a little cleanup work on the site photos. The change should be transparent
to most. We were getting so many photos that our directories were too
large and took too long for the computers to read during updates! As a
result, we have moved all the photos into separate directories on the
site. The only folks who will notice a problem are those who might have
links on their sites to a specific photo on draglist.com. If they do,
chances are that link no longer works. If you are in this category, please
check out your site links! bp

August 16, 2001 - We're back! We started the week in bad shape when our home network suddenly stopped working. We got updates done through 8/09, but that was all we could upload. We were getting the site updates done, we just couldn't get a high enough quality circuit to hold an Internet connection to get the updates to the site.
On top of that, someone sent us a 2.5-megabyte email message that would have been a minor inconvenience under normal circumstances. Under our degraded network conditions, however, it completely blew us away. We couldn't open our home email at all, so we had to forward all our email to Hotmail, which has a paltry 2-megabyte limit. While we couldn't download the offending 2.5-mb message, at least we could get all our other mails "around" the big one. That was something we could not do at the home account.
Don't even get me started on MSN or Hotmail technical support. That goes for Yahoo mail, too. I tried to use them as a temporary solution, but half the time, the doggone thing wouldn't recognize my login and password. I didn't have time to bother with Yahoo, but calling MSN resulted in a continual cycle of walking through setups repeatedly and being forwarded to other departments. Hey, Bill Gates - your system's BROKE.
I still am having network problems, so I took a step back this morning. Instead of using my 700K Starband Internet Satellite connection, I resorted to good old dial-up 26K (that's all I can get out of my ancient neighborhood). Of course, MSN wouldn't accept THAT login and password either, but I finally got through to a halfway decent support person who showed me an undocumented shortcut. If you use MSN and it rejects your perfectly valid login and password, try typing "MSN/" in front of your login (don't use the quotes).
Anyway, that's how our updates hit the 'net this morning, while my satellite connection was trying to sputter through some clouds.
Thanks for all the emails and updates you've sent over the past week. I've tried to answer most via my Hotmail account, but there are some folks who still need a response from me. I'll be contacting you soon. bp
