Notes: Stanley was at Baton Rouge for the NHRA Cajun Nationals, where he was the twelfth alternate with a 7.95/175.09. Alamo Dragway held an eight-car show on August 10 during the NHRA Division 4 race. Bill's 7.87/174.41 qualified second to Carl Bell's 7.87/178. He beat Willie Frank in the opening round with a 7.97/172.41. In the semi-final, he ran 8.09/172.34 and defeated Frank Sicinski's 8.20/169. In the final, his 8.04/164.53 finished runner-up to Mark Bramhall's 7.92/166. Bill was the sixth alternate at Indy for the NHRA US Nationals with a 7.650/182.85. Those were the team's best NHRA times of the year.
