Pee Wee just sent me a link to Jack Clifford's photos from yesterday's picnic. Cheers, WC1

What a collection of units from hotrods, ratrods,
customs, stock (loved that 57 Pontiac), trucks
and Corvettes. Wow! Is the nostalgia coupe
bottom left on page 6 a Studebaker?? What is
the intake system on the hemi on page 19???
Thanks Cat and Pee Wee. Very Happy

Uh...I see a Vette at the bottom left of page 6...page 8 is as far as this album goes...are we looking at the same album, Wheelz? I'll check Jack's smugmug page out...Cheers, WC1

Oh, are you talking about the Hawkins & Bunch CC/GS coupe? I do believe you're right, I think that is an old Stude...blown 283 Chevy engine, they fired it up, too and it sounded beautiful...

What hemi are we looking at? The one in the blue pickup rod is a Ford hemi, the one in the purple chopped and channelled coupe might be a DeSoto...

Okay, the pictures are in this album...

http://jcliffordj.smugmug.com/Cars/PEE-WEE-BOWEN-PICNIC-09/10171468_tYocN#P-1-30

The coupe, page 6 bottom left, sounds correct. The picture on page 19 top left is of a Hemi, with the induction system in question, that I think is in the little sports car on page 18 top right? Sorry about the confusion of albums and pics. I've never seen this induction system before. Anyone care to venture an answer? Very Happy

Hmmm...what happens is that the window isn't the same size on our computers, so yours shows 19 pages and mine shows 8... Rolling Eyes
What are the picture numbers? Idea Cheers, WC1

That is a very interesting car...it's a '62 Daimler SP 250, a "Coventry Corvette". The engine is a Daimler 153-inch hemi with twin SU carburetors...140 hp...120mph...here's what I found on this car. Good eye, Wheelz...I had completely overlooked this rare car.
Cheers, WC1

With the tendency for the doors to fly open, with a 120 MPH top speed, I imagine occupants were hesitant to drive/ride in this unit?? Very Happy

Yeah, it had a bad rep there for a while, didn't it...needed some testing that it must not have gotten before they started selling them? I guess they had a different safety deal over there back then? Hmmm... Rolling Eyes
