My favorite Larry Dixon win was Seattle in 2003. That was the race where Scelzi had to follow team orders and choose the bad lane in the semis against Bazemore, who was #2 in the points behind Tony Pedregon and needed to win some rounds, so Scelzi was told to take a knee. Anyway, it was Larry Dixon and Doug Kalitta in the final, with Dougie having lane choice and naturally he chose the good lane. Every fuel car had smoked the tires in the bad lane all day long, and I'll be danged if LD didn't pull up and run a 4.67 and win that dadgum event outta that lane. Mister Dick LaHaie figured out how to get that car down the track in the bad lane and win that race when everybody else in town couldn't go 50 feet without blowing the tires off...it was a stunning and dang near impossible moment...unforgettable...I love that kinda stuff. LD ended up winning the championship that year. He sent us his crew shirt, signed, for us to auction off at "Blues For Becky"...Cheryl has it now...Good luck to those guys. They are a class organization and great people. Cheers, WC1
