Was wanting to post a message asking if anyone in the racing community remembers or knows of a Neal Scouten, used to live in Chicago, in the Beverly neighborhood on 104th Street off Charles.
I was a young kid who lived across the street from him, back in the 60's.
He used to do race car frame fabrications. Some of the cars I remember seeing in his garage were Little Red Wagon and Der Mini Brute among many others... I used to mow his lawn, shovel his snow and wash his cars, basically was his indentured servant and he took pity on me when he saw me trying to build the old bicycle/lawn mower contraptions and he welded my frames to be safer, did a couple of extended front ends, drove me to Richards Hobby Shop and bought me my first real throttle and centrifugal clutch set-up.
Pretty much put me on the track in my motorcycle days and there's not many days I don't think about him...especially when I'm building a bike now. I had kind of a dysfunctional family and between him and the next door neighbors, the Wynns, and Root/Eriksons they kept me on the right track when I was a kid.
I owe him (or his family if hes gone by now) a huge thank you, so am hoping I can find him. Let me know if anyone remembers him or knows anything on where he might be now.
