GILLIAM, La. - Dale Brand continued to dominate the Funny Car field for the Fourth annual Mopar Parts World Finals at Red River Raceway,, destroying both ends of the track record with a 5.743 second 241.89 mph run in the second round of qualifying Friday. The run also put Brand in the number one qualifying position heading into Saturday's qualifying sessions.

Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley-Davidson rider Doug Vancil wrote his name in the history books when the Albuquerque, N.M. -based rider clinched the 2001 World Championship simply by making two qualifying attempts on Friday.

Pro qualifying continues Saturday at 12:30 p.m., with the final qualifying session at 6:40 p.m., during the "Night of Fire."
