WILD CAT I was kinda thinkin about naming a trophy after Tom but did NOT want to be disrespectfull in any way.
It sounds like BP is ok with it , so we need to figure out what category to name it. He drove a dragster.....was a painter.....or being as he won the first PREFORMANCE trophy ???
I need yer input gang, I like any of the three, you decide, take a poll, whatever.
PAINTER TOM BEST PAINT AWARD
PAINTER TOM BEST DRAGSTER AWARD
PAINTER TOM BEST PREFORMANCE AWARD
Pick one gang,

He'd be deserving of the whole event, but I'd say performance...my take on it...WC1

I would say the paint,( as he was a painter and his work was phenominal )
and performance as he did win the first one.
tough choice ..

Hi guys. We need to slow this down a bit.
I'm all for doing an award in Tom's name, but to do it for the minor "fun" trophy presentation we do at the end of the meet is not meaningful enough.
Since we have offered performance awards to the quick 8 fields before, I think that if we were to do a Tom Morris Best Appearing Car Award, it should to go the wider event, not just to the Draglist cars. It should be a nice plaque and would be presented as part of the larger event. This would be a fitting tribute to Tom and would provide a meaningful contribution by Draglist to the overall event.
We also would need to check with Tom's wife to ensure she is OK with this and perhaps even to be on hand to present the award.
But I think it's a great idea and a fitting tribute, if done right.

I still haven't recovered from the shock of hearing this.
RIP Tom, you will be missed by all of us

I agree, Rapid. This was a sudden, painful shock. The man just died. I just found the 2 original pictures he sent to me of his dragster for the calendar.
We'll do it right and take our time. BP's right, and he's the man to decide. Here are the 2 pics I found in my Downloads folder. WC1

I agree BP, we'll keep the little "mini" trophys for us "Draglisters".But a memorial plaque given to the "BEST _________" of the event is a great idea. Yer right, we do need an OK from Mrs. Morris. We'll leave that and the plaque to you.
Pro Z and I have the Draglist mini trophys covered for this year.

Hi everyone,
I knew Tom for over 12 years and we were the best of buds since day one. I also did his website since its inception.
He was my Santa I still miss him terribly, as I see you all do too. He was one of a kind, thats for sure.
Anyways, I registered here for 2 reasons:
1. To thank you all for the great banner you made and brought to Cindy. She was very moved by it, as am I. The tributes that have poured in since his death have been simply amazing.
2. Its most unfortunate, but very common for the family vultures to set in as soon as they can, and that is happening now with Cindy. So if there is a need to contact her via snail-mail please do not send it to Mrs. Morris, or Cindy Morris. The mail is being divided and she wont receive anything that hints of Tom's name. Although they were together so long they were not legally married. Please send any correspondence to Cindy Ross to make sure she gets it.
Thank you again so much for the banner! When I saw it I just had to sit back and cry all over again.
BTW, I saw your suggestions about a PainterTom award.....wow. If I could add .02 it would be to make his name one word, just PainterTom. In life as well as text, you just couldnt seperate the two. Know what I mean?
Thanks everyone!

Welcome to the board Shorty. I only saw Tom a couple times during the DragList Nats. but that's all it took to realize he was a great guy. One of those types that you could talk to like you'd known him forever.
