Finally got the chassis on a section of level concrete floor in Dad's garage even in spite of two big tractors, a 7 foot snowblower, welders, a few engines and a 1977 Hornet taking up most of the space. A little re-arranging and we'll even be able to get whatever body we'll be using in there too. At least it's all in one pile now......

Hmmmmm........Race car project is at a standstill already. According to the instruction manual for the Jegster chassis the next steps are:
1. Cut out the floor and lower firewall section of whatever body you are going to use.
2. Drop body over the frame rails until the center section of the frame is even with the bottom of the rocker panel
3. Fit and tack weld most of the cage, lift the body up slightly and finish weld the upper part of the cage.
4. Drop the body back down and finish the rest of the cage.
Looks like it's time to make the final decision on exactly what is going to be dropped over that chassis. But first we need to make a square and level stand on the garage floor high enough to make it easy to work on(and under) and wide enough so the bottom of both the frame and the rocker panels will sit flat on it(as per #2 above)

This is what I got for six hours worth of driving on Sunday. Traded a buddy of mine my 60" wide(flange to flange) Nova 12 bolt with Strange spool, axles, and c-clip eliminators for his 46" wide 12 bolt with Strange spool, axles and Mopar style bearing retainers. Since he was building a stock class Camaro and I'm building a big tire car it was a perfectly logical swap. He is from the opposite end of Nova Scotia which is 6 hours away from here so we met at an A&W at the halfway point. Much better than one of us driving for 12 hours.....

Another awesome day and another instance where it pays to have good friends. I dropped in to see my pal Kevin on my way to Dad's to finish the chassis jig. He asked me if I had gotten rims/slicks yet and I told him no. Then he led me into an old school bus where he stored parts and asked me if I wanted these. They're 13" wide with 3 1/2" backspacing and are wrapped with 14X31 Goodyear Eagles with only 5 runs on them and brand new tubes. I asked him how much and he said he it's payment for all the hours I put in over the winter helping him with his racecar. Geez - all I did was hold stuff while he welded and I might have ground a few tubing ends. Hell, I even drank his beer while I was there. I was just hanging around trying to help - I didn't expect anything for it. Friends like that are hard to find.............

Decisions, decisions.........Here's the choices for a salvage yard race car body: Sunfire, Saturn, Cavalier, Grand Am, Grand Prix or Monte Carlo. With the VW Golf and AMC Hornet we already have it's no wonder I can't decide.......
