I got bitten by some kind of bug the other day...I was out in the garage doing a cleanup and reorg so the boys can play their music in there, and I started itching just below my speedo line. Next thing you know, I've got a whelp down there the size of a half-dollar. It festered up and right now it looks like I got shot with a 9mm in a drive-by. It was probably a friggin' Brown Recluse, dammit. I'm looking at a month or so of treatments until it starts healing. It's plenty sore. Might have to go to the vet and get some salve put on it if it don't get better in a few days. It's always something! Cheers, WC1

That's probably what the vet'll put on me...no problem...actually I think it was a Texas Chigger that got me. They wear boots and gunbelts with big buckles on 'em, and ten-gallon hats. Kyle told me last night that if it was a Brown Recluse or a Black Widow, I'd have been in the pet hospital the next day having surgery on it to save my life. But this is ugly...and painful...it's all I can do to keep from licking it...I carefully examined the wound this morning and I can see two puncture marks on it...could have been a scorpion or some kind of bug with fangs...at any rate, it's had my attention for a few days...heck, I'll just work through it...Cheers, WC1

Them Texas chiggers are about as big as house cats from OTHER states...

Hope you feel better, John... bp

Thanks, I'm planning to live...I'll be back on the road December 15th and 16th for 2 holiday season gigs. I'll be playing the Houston Yacht Club in Seabrook with the Whiskey Saints that Friday night, then Saturday I'll be playing guitar for the Pee Wee Bowen Band at a private party in Kemah. Both are Bay Area gigs and both will pay handsomely...with me and Debby's 10-year anniversary (this time) coming up on the 21st, and Christmas a few days later, heck...these couldn't come in at a better time. I'm honored to get the call for Pee Wee's guitar chair. That is a very large compliment. He's seen me play guitar with the Citykings, and he asked me if I'd ever consider switching off if the situation called for it. I said sure, I do that all the time. I just hope I can do all his songs well. He digs deep into Otis Redding and he does some obscure Soul and Blues classics...I know 'em on keyboards, but I'll just do what I have relied on all this time: forget about the instrument and just play each song to its fullest potential. Just play the gig and don't worry. Cheers, WC1

That bite still hasn't healed all the way...it itches like crazy but I'm leaving it alone. I can't help but think I got sick last week because of it. I was scanning some blueprints of the original University of Houston Student Center last week in an ongoing archival project that GRI has the deal on. A lot of 'em look like the Shroud of Turin, they're so old and ragged. They go all the way back to the 1930s when the school was first built...The student center is pretty cool...It's called the Cougar Den. I noticed the etching of the cougar in one of the title blocks as being very well done. This was from the late 1960s, between '69 and maybe '72...I saved an extra copy of the cat and made this logo today with it. Can't say's I'll use it but it's a 35-year-old etching that hasn't been seen since and I added color. It's a wildcat, what can I say! Cheers, WC1
