Randy, just a couple of observations.

1. Shorten your burnouts. I know you want to impress the crowds but you're only hurting yourself. Too much heat makes more power. You're also using up too much fuel and therefore losing the weight in the front end.

2. It looks like you had your hands full (understatement) and getting on and off the throttle a few times. Sometimes doing that will load the motor and kaboom.

You know I love you to death and am only trying to give you some sound advice. 8)
Barb, your observations are dead on the money. I will go into it more tomorrow if I can get the time. Comments/observations are always welcome.

Rapid
Guess I shoulda continued my "train" of observations/thoughts a little more on the shorten your burnouts.

Using so much fuel on the burnout and losing weight on the front end will make the car hit the wheeliebar harder and therefore unload the chassis. This could be part of the reason for getting out there and hazing/smoking the tires. You want to lift the left front tire, while the right tire is just skimming the track surface. It don't do no good when the you're bouncin all the tires off the ground.  (new nickname: Bouncin Rapid .. oh never mind   )

One other thing to remember, if you make a sudden move or hit the shift button harder, you can be unloading the chassis without realizing it. Just another reason to be buckled in as tight as possible.

Just my 2 cents from a guy who is still learning about CH3NO2. Friday night 1/8th mile time was a 4.12! Don't see a lot of problem there. Saturdays last run was after jet cars ran. A lot of jet cars. Just a thought.

Bandit, you make a very valid point. Jet's should be run at the end of any program or the track should be cleaned and sprayed and a few lesser powered cars run before the big guns get out there.

BTW, that 4.12 should have made a great birthday present   HAPPY BIRTHDAY Randy, I've got a cake for ya .. young man

Rapid,
You remember well subtle changes in our style.(Burnouts)
Heat is a beautiful thing , too much is not. (even with a nitrous engine combination), plus an over zealous clutch.
I'm truly impressed with your tuning curve, etc. (not alone drivin' that thing great)....
The "can"(nitro) is a different world! I'm impressed!

Thanks Gator,,,you know that means alot to me coming from you!! 8)

On a different note. Christmas came early to Nitro Madness last night. We got another KB stage 10 block. It is the sister block to the one in the car so we will have a spare bullet now. We already have enough spare stuff to put it together complete with heads.

Scott Rocks!!! 8)

Rapid, It appears to me, after looking at the videos from Sat., that the tires are not growing after you leave the line.

Thanks again for a great report.

Check your Tire Gauge!!!!

Postby Rapid Randy Baker » Wed Aug 30, 2006 4:13 pm

I feel like we all try to help each other out here. I am going to pass along a tip you have probably heard 50-times and thought it doesn't apply to me.

CHECK YOU TIRE GAUGE AGAINST A KNOWN QUALITY GAUGE!!

We have been having some tire spinning issues this year ever since Tulsa. We finally eliminated all other things and checked the gauge at someone else's insistence. It was 1.25-1.5 lbs off when checking it against a correct gauge. So when we put 5.5-lbs of air in our tires, we were putting 6.75-7.0 pounds of air in them.

Do yourself a favor and check your tire gauge this week.

Randy..
You drive great Man...........
I don't have any critique at all. ( not there to read temps, pressures, etc.)(would stay silent on things anyhow)...car sounds friggin awesome!
Charles and Shannon tell me the "new" tires are tricky too. (probably for you too.)..I liked the 1490's.

Scott is Great!
Spare bullet changes a lot of things! (It's all good!)
