This is from another site Via Don Ewald yesterday,..

Got word from Pat Burnett(Warren Burnett's wife) that Don Powell who drove the Powell and Burnett Chevy powered Top fuel car died yesterday. He was 75 years old. Died in his sleep in the hospital. Please place his name in the memorial. Thanks

As a fuel Chevy fan, I always followed Don's cars with extra interest. Thanks for the thrill's, Don, and rest in peace. bp

I'm fairly certain Powell & Burnett were the last non-Chrysler NHRA Divisonal Champions. They were a great team to watch and showed up just about anywhere fuel cars ran in the southeast.

Hardcore Rat racers in the day and that team loved to run and
did the BowTie fans proud.
RIP Don,with all that have passed lately I know you're in good company.
