Our friend and business partner Sy Sidebotham died in a car accident Monday night. Sy sold his great "Real Men Drive Front Engine Dragsters" T-shirts on draglist and did them for cost... he just wanted to keep the scene alive. Sy and his mom built New England Dragway and he also was involved in several of the New England area's best dragster efforts over the years, including several Fuelers. Sy was one of the fastest gas dragsters in the world in 1959, with a speed of 161 mph. A few years ago, Sy redid and brought out the King & Marshall nostalgia Top Fueler, which thrilled racers and fans at the CHRR. Of course, I want to extend my personal condolences and sympathies to all of Sy's friends and family. bp

Sy & I go back a long time ago when Art Irwin, a writer for Drag News & me, well you know where I have been, had parties at New England Dragway at my fuel meets. Sy was a designer and had many trademarks outside of drag racing. Did you know that every time you buy a 1/2 gallon of ice cream at the store, he designed the box? I am waiting for
Badco to finish this story. A BIG MAN with a BIGGER HEART! No, you don't live forever, but your memories DO!
