Postby RH » Mon Sep 21, 2009 5:00 pm

Just received an email from Julio Marra that Steve Kanuika has passed away.Steve was a great racer, builder, speed shop owner and sponsor /supporter of the sport. He is legend to east coast racers for his involvement in the early funny car days, especially his association with Jungle Jim Lieberman.

RIP Steve and thank you for all you did.

Farewell, Steve. Truly a legendary name in the sport -- especially on the East Coast. Never got to meet Steve, but through that wacky Facebook, we chatted a few times this year. Rest in peace... bp

RH, You said it all about Steve. He was a great guy and racer and a great friend of mine. I saw him at the York Show in July and we talked a long time about the good old days. We laughed and talked about him racing in the Top Dog Meets that Eastern Drag News had back when Monk Reynolds was Editor. He was later one of the first sponsors of one of the greatest showman in drag racing "Jungle Jim" My prayers go out to his family.
