George Ray

Sorry to have to report that George Ray, who owned and operated George Ray's Wildcat drag strip in Paragould, Arkansas has passed away. George opened the track in 1961 and the track remained a heads-up track the entire time. Thank you Mr. Ray for all that you've contributed to the sport and may you rest in peace.

I agree with everything else said... We all sincerely salute George Ray with highest honors... This sport is never going to see another individual like George Ray... George personified the "grass roots" independent drag racing movement with his "outlaw" Wildcat Drag Strip... He was a pioneer of the pioneers... Bret's piece is a very touching & informative remembrance of George Ray... Heaven definitely holds a place for George Ray, because it was George Ray who gave us a true slice of drag racing heaven here on earth... Diana
