Capt.Phil Harris of the F/V Cornelia Marie died from complications of a stroke on Feb. 9th.He suffered the stroke while at work on his vessel. For all that are fans of the TV show that portrays the rough and tumble nature of the Alaskan Crabbing industry Capt.Phil was quite an entertaining charactor.Growing up with commercial fishermen in my family and to this day still having friends who make a living doing it,I find the show riveting. Capt.Phil's interaction with his crew and other Captians was great TV but I found his interaction with his two sons to be really what endeared me to him.Tough as nails as their Boss, but not much different from you and I as a parent.Concerned that his boys knew right from wrong ,that they worked to reach their objectives and that they would follow a path straighter than his.Wanted to be their Dad and their best friend.
Thank's for the great entertainment over the past 4 years Capt.Phil and the fruits of your labor that many of us have enjoyed on the table.
May you rest in peace.

Ron

Well written Ron. Capt. Phil Harris was my favorite captain. Remember him talking about fish farts?
RIP Phil Harris The real Deal!
