I just got a call that on May 2nd Lucas died suddenly of a heart attack. Lucas was the 27 year old son of my best friend from high school Chuck. Chuck & I ran around in a group of 5-6 guys all through high school, but of all of them Chuck was the one friend I've managed to keep in touch with throughout the years. He and his family have been out here to see us and we try to stop and see them whenever we go back home to Iowa. We surprised them by showing up at their daughter Dani's wedding sneaking in the church. I still remember the look on Dani's face when she came down the isle and saw us. Priceless. Chuck & I did some crazy stuff back in the old days. I could write a book. Anyway, I wish I could be there tomorrow for the funeral. Maybe we'll go out next weekend if they are up to it.
Rest in Peace Lucas.

Sorry to hear this, Gary. A tragedy at any age, but 27 is just way too young. bp

Sorry to hear of his untimely passing. My condolences to his family and all who knew him. From what I read of him, he was a fine young man. Rest in peace, Luke. WC1

Thanks BP, WC & Wally. Tomorrow morning Cheryl & I are heading to Iowa to see Chuck & his wife Gail. We wanted to be there for the funeral (week ago today) but after thinking about it, going out now is good. We can reflect, tell old stories & remember Luke together.

Yes, that will be better, I think. It should be cathartic to share those memories on a nice weekend with friends. You and Cheryl will be helping a lot. bp

I agree; you folks will lift their spirits. This is what friends are for. Have a safe trip.

Thanks BP & WC. Just got back. We got to talk for a couple hours, then took them out for dinner. Glad we went.
