LOU GASPARELLI

Long time Div 7 top alcohol racer Lou Gasparelli just passed after a long illness. Gasparelli always managed to field cars that were good looking and competitive. Though he tended to stay within the confines of Div 7 region, he produced performance levels that would have made him competitive anywhere. He was one of the first west coast guys to build a purpose built car for the NHRA's then gas powered BB/FC category in 1971; It replaced his AA/GS Anglia. He was nice and approachable to all. He ran a garage out of Monrovia, Cal, a small town about 5 minutes from his former home track Irwindale.

Thank you, Bill, and don't be a stranger!

Lou was always one of my favorite alky racers. He was right there slugging it out with Veney and Armstrong, and he continued to stay at the top of the game until he and his son Steve were slugging it out with Manzo and Payne. Farewell, Lou, and sympathies to Steve and the rest of Lou's family and many friends. bp
