Ed Lenearth RIP

Just discovered that Ed Lenearth, partner with Roger Wolford in the series of hemi powered Jeep floppers passed away not but a few days ago. The two colloborated on a series of fuelers before gaining notority with their Secret Weapon Jeep from 1966. Borrowing from parts left over, and their own garage based cosntruction effort, the direct drive racer ran solid numbers that nearly matched those of the best factory paid efforts of Nicholson et al. Their 1968 Holly Toledo Jeep, a much more refined effort, didnt tour, but stayed in Div 7 land where it was a weekly competitor. Lenearth even vested in a project involving a side winder Gremlin flopper in 72 or so. Lenearth emerged from an era where novelty and experimentation was as revered as wins. It was their willingness to step outside the box and explore uncharted territory that gave the 60's era so much fun, color and excitement.
