Leon has worked on these old heaps a long time and has some good stories of back in the day.
You will recognize the cars he was with when he will post them.

Thanks Billy, last year Doug, we had to put one in the other tank, I don't know why this year my feeble mind figured it did'nt need it! Harder to do now that the tank is together, but I think I can do it without cutting the tank open. I'll cut a slit in the top rear, drill two holes in the bottom, slip the baffle and hinged piece in from the top, and simply weld the bottom to the baffle thru the drilled holed and weld the holes shut, then weld the slit on top shut!! Presto!! What do ya think?Showing off for the pretty girls part of that makes sense...I'll take a stab at this one, Lippy (correct me if I am wrong)....
The trap door will allow fuel from the front side of the tank to get to the rear of the tank under acceleration...but will close off and trap fuel in the rear of the tank under braking or letting out of the gas......thus keeping a steady feed of fuel to the line so that "maybe" the motor won't have to starve for fuel, after a burnout, or any dry-hops that may get performed in an effort to show off for the pretty girls in attendance.
Seriously, that sounds like a killer idea. Sort of like the trap doors in my oil pan...
A sheetmetal "checkvalve" of sorts.

Barb, I'm gonna let someone more qualified than I to answer that, you and Leon and Randy and a bunch of others here have probably forgot more about that kind of stuff than I'll ever know!!Ok question .. don't you also have to consider pump vs percentage? Also the conditions at the time you're running?
Sorry folks .. been a long time since workin with DA and the drag racing game doesn't help.
 I just stab and steer!

my two cents worth is seeing you guys in the funnycars by next spring !! i understand the thrill of making the F.E.D work and going fast..but with Leon's talent you guys could be " right there " with a competitive car, great show etc. in the N/FCclass and getting paid to be there..
