Well, I decided that I should probably do some work on the car, so I finally took it out of the trailer last night.
I'm going to make some new ladder bar brackets so that I can lower the front of the bars a bit more and try to get rid of the tire shake.
I also want to figure out why the car sits so crooked. For some reason the left side of the car sits about an inch lower than the right side. It's been that way for a while, but it's been handling fairly well, so I didn't want to go and screw with anything. I broke down and decided to get a set of scales, they should be here in a couple of days. I want to see where it's really sitting weight-wise before I get too carried away with changes. The fact that it tends to go left at the launch, and that the left front is sitting low, I'm betting that the right rear has a lot of weight on it. But it's not going left hard enough that I want to tweak things very far from where they're at.
On another subject - I found a group in the UK that makes fiberglass panels that look just like the cloth tops for Anglias. I'd be more comfortable with a glass top at 150mph than another cloth one. They weren't sure that what they had would be big enough for the Prefect, so I measured the hole and sent them the dimensions - still waiting to hear on this one.
On yet another subject (or 'page 3' as Paul Harvey would say) - I found a Yamaha golf cart locally for a real good price. He's going to let me take it and try it out. I figure I'll roll the car down the hill in front of the house and try to pull it back up - if the cart will pull the car up that hill, it should be able to handle most return roads.
Looks like I've got some work to do this weekend....
