'Mad Man Marko' Hildonen

Mad Man Marko, who ran some of the fastest wheelstanders of his day, passed away this month... WAY too young. Mark had kept in touch with Draglist to remind us of his performances, which we are proud to list. RIP, Mark. bp

HILDONEN, Mark "Mad Man Marko" 53, Died unexpectedly on April 3rd, in New Hampshire. Born in Gloucester MA, on March 7th 1956 to the late Roland A. Hildonen and the late Rev. Nancy (Fickett) Hildonen. Mark graduated from Rockport High school class of 1974. At a very young age, Mark was fascinated with the sport of drag racing. This fascination turned into a career of professional drag racing, touring the United States and three other countries. This earned him many records and awards. From his racing Mark moved on to his second passion, music, managing bands, producing concerts and tours across the country. In more recent years, he has been involved in many different business developments. Mark is survived by his daughter Kasey Kasper Hildonen of CT, two brothers Keith Hildonen of Londenderry NH, Jeffrey Hildonen and his wife Frances of Rockport, six nieces and nephews, Derek Sullivan and his wife Nancy of Ipswich, Kristian Sullivan and his wife July of Maynard, Kirsten Hildonen and Kurt Hildonen of Londenderry NH, and Ross Hildonen and Cassandra Hildonen of Rockport. A celebration of his life will be held at the Fuller School Audotorium in Gloucester MA, on Saturday April 18th at 1:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of one's choice.
