I got bad news....

If any of you raced at old San Diego Raceway, at the Ramona airport in Ramona California, then you may have been sent on your way by their steady flag starter, Mickey Schidner. Well, Mickey passed away a couple of days ago. Mickey came to the Escondido "Nitro Night" event and for a few brief shining moments was back in the spot light as we lined up the fuelers, lit in the night on Broadway. I very much enjoyed having a small part in bringing Mickey to those events and having the opportunity to introduce him to the crowd. He was a good man. Here is the information about it upcoming funeral. Mickey loved drag racing.

Graveside services for Mickey Shidner will be held at the Ramona Cemetery (Nuevo Memory Gardens) on Saturday July 11, 2009 at 11:00am.

The address is 532 Ash St. in Ramona.

If you will be attending the services, PLEASE DRIVE YOUR STREET RODS. After the services, there will be a gathering at Mickey's home and you will be given priority parking.

No flowers please.
