You've probably heard the news of the high school basketball player who made the winning shot to cap off a 20-0 season, only to die of an enlarged heart minutes later.
Shockingly similar to my high school buddies 27 year old son Luke who passed last summer, also of an enlarged heart, also after playing basketball a few hours before.
My prayers go out to the family & friends of the young man.

It will be interesting to see if he had had an energy drink before/during the game.
It's a common practice.
Luke's doctor had nothing good to say about energy drinks and thinks they should be banned. He went on to say, though the energy drink was not the sole cause he feels it was a contributing factor in Luke's death. I know I'm getting ahead of the story & should wait & see IF there is a follow up story on Wes. But this story brings up a lot of sad memories. Luke was a great kid (sounds like Wes was also). A sad situation will be even more-so if turns out it could have been prevented.
Sorry for the vent

It is heartbreaking to see things like this happen. It wouldn't surprise me if an energy drink was found to have contributed to Wes' and Luke's deaths. It's an artificial energy booster and it very well could have sent their systems into overload. I have carefully avoided that stuff after having a bad experience one night a while back. My condolences to both young men's families. What a tragic loss for everyone. WC1

I was going to try one of those. After I quit smoking in Dec. I felt a loss of energy, at least I though not smoking was part of the cause. But after reading the warnings posted with everyone of them, forget it. I'll stick with coffee or Mountain Dew.
