Are you saying the cam is installed at 0? Is the cam ground with 4deg built in? I would try a couple less deg of ign timing and go from there, are the timing marks right on the balancer? Check that ign box too ,bad box, weak spark will make it lay down, though doubt plugs would be white. You said pops out exhaust, poss like randy said, valvesprings or maybe needs more timing.??? Weak ign will make it pop, or just be lazy upstairs, will sound fine at low and mid to upper end, then flatten out.

msd makes a " little black box " that gives the box 17+ volts, msd says if you're not running at least 17 volts to the box you're leaving power on the table.........................but i guess if it were an ignition problem the plugs would be black from not burning all the fuel, i still say check the size of your needles and seats, that's the real bottleneck in the fuel system. the fact that it revs out in 1st and not in 2nd just reinforces this suspicion.

man i sure am not a race motor expert but untill you prove it is not a fuel volume problem i have to think it is... even daily drivers suffer from it. all pressure tests are good ( by the spec) but i have found supply lines collapsing internally and in one case some road debris had bounced up and put a pinch kink in the latemodel plastic line running along the framerail.. never leaked but was a restriction..

ok my 2 cents that isnt worth a penny have you changed the hood scoop or air intake if so the air could be pulling the fuel out of the carb?

Good one Rock, also I've seen that at times with the fuel we have, it won't always show color on the plugs, you can still be rich and look lean, so ya hafta read the heat in the plug not color.
