speakin' of u-joints

my buddy is rounding up stuff to install a 700r overdrive into his 69 chevelle... not a racer just a clean rustfree daily driver...what he is lacking at this point is a part # for the rear joint to hook a later gm shaft to the 69 10bolt pinion flange. thought maybe Mike or flyin' hillbilly can help with the correct u-joint ?

You're going to have to count me out on this one. I've been off the parts counter for way too many years to remember any of those numbers. Now, if it was for a 1931 Dodge, I could help you with that one.

i told him to sell the chevelle and by the old plymoth next door

i used one 315g and one 369 precision on my car, just switched two of the caps on each so that they each had two inside clip caps, and two outside caps, the best thing to do is take the shaft to a good parts store and tell them that you need the rear joint to fit where a 369 precision would, that should be what the rear end takes.

took a nice ride around the county in my buddy's chevelle with the overdrive deal.. dropped to 1600 rpm @70 mph.... with the small primaries on the quadrajet it should get some good mpg. works nice

This brings up another question.
My enire driveline will be new except for the drive shaft. What should I use for u-joints? Are stock replacements going to work for me?

Are they going to snap?

i've stood cars on the rear wheels with precision u joints, but then again i've put 250hp of nitrous on cast pistons too ( I kinda like living on the edge ) you can get solid cross spicers if you're worried about it, i get mine from the guy that builds my driveshafts.
