Indeed, he was one of the greatest ever to sit at a trap set. He re-wrote the book on modern time-signatures, rhythyms and phrasing while making it sound sensible and appealing at the same time. Someone this good just doesn't come along all the time. Rest in peace, Joe. You showed everybody what is possible with Jazz and your playing spawned an entire army of imitators. There was only one Joe Morello, though! WC1
