And it has what jets? Any s/c type bb will need low to mid 90s jets with an 8896. especially at sea level.

check for voltage throughout the electrical system.....it "could" be dropping below what the MSD requires to operate at maximum efficiency...Another thing to check for...is a bad or loose ground wire.
Wiring will make you pull your hair out, because it will do the goofiest things.....
Hope you solve the puzzle soon :(

The plugs being white bothers me. I am still kinda thinking the valve springs are the problem. I would look for coil bind, or broken inners. Maybe they just plain don't have enough spring pressure.

Put the fuel pressure up to 8-8.5lbs and see if it will pull the whole length after checking seat pressure on the valve.

Hope something here helps,

I just thought of one other thing. Put a new fuel filter on it. I had a Pro-Street Monte that started acting goofy. It turns out the fuel filter you could blow thru it, it looked clean, but wouldn't flow enough to keep up with the engine. It was big enough, just was plugged from sitting all winter. It would start, idle, rev up, but just wouldn't rev up.

Next guess, have you got mufflers on it? They will fail on the inside and do this also. I had a set of those kind you can space the end back for more noise and better flow. I forget the name. I was like I took the govenor off the car when I changed them out to flowmasters.

GOOD VOLTAGE..13 V W/EVERYTHING RUNNING HAS ALTENATOR
NEW FUEL FILTER
HAVE PUT CORRECT NEW SPRINGS ON, CLOSED SEAT PSI IS CORRECT IS CORRECT, NO COIL BIND.
HAVE TRIED 8-8.5 FUEL PRESSURE, DOES EXACTLY THE SAME THING
EXCEPT LETTING OFF ,..THE CARB ITSELF WOULD OVER FLOW.
PUT FUEL PSI BACK TO 7 PSI DOESNT OVERFLOW.....
THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM :x

When was the last time the cam was degreed in? It might have moved.
Also you might want to double check TDC again using the positive stop method. The TDC mark on the balancer may be wrong or the timing indicator might have moved.
Have you checked for a vacuum leak? A vacuum leak will make the carb see a false signal and not deliver enough fuel.
Maybe try using a different timing light the one you are using might be bad.

i don't claim to be a expert. but it still sounds like fuel delivery. vent's, fuel line separating internally, fuel lines restricted, have you put a electronic fuel pressure gauge on it so you can see what your down track pressure is?? with the blower car we had problems with braided lines seperating internally. you could blow thru them but when the pump started flowing fuel it would shut the fuel off. the braided hose had separated internally and looked fine on the outside.. i've learned the hard way lean is mean they just don't live long..broke dad
